What are $wraps? Is it a token? Or a number on a database? Has it a fixed $ price or is it floating?

I think it makes sense for now. Basically, Farcaster gets paid, users can easily buy warps as they'd buy any other in-game currency in web2 games - BUT they can also use these warps for minting NFTs, paying it forward etc. and users see addresses of other users and can also send ETH & there is some warp - ETH converter

You can look at this as a failure for tokens/crypto. What should token be if not exaclty build for that use case? It's a sign, and not a good one.

It's a gradual process towards web3/onchain adoption. So far, people adopted gambling on CEXs which is no diff than buying stocks. Next step is to bring them onchain, make them use onchain products (NFTs, tokens, wallets) & slowly grow onchain vs offchain actions. No need to create artificial barriers to adoption.
