Of the 18 or so people at Merkle, I think I know where 3/18 went to college.

College is helpful for career if:

1. You major in something with hard skills
2. In the US, you got to a school that gives you an initial professional network

But after your first or second job, most places just care about what you've done at the previous job (or built on your own).

I think the initial professional network + first job network is probably more powerful than people realize though 

Sets up a lot of 2nd and 3rd degree connections down the line

Yeah I agree, it’s just easier to do things if you have a better network from day 1
