yeah good point i just weirdly remember in 2008-16 it felt like people were big on "you do your thing i do mine" in regards to social issues but internet makes it easier to attack

definitely. around the time obama got elected the social layer started to fracture a bunch stateside we went from “don’t talk or judge others on sex, religion, or politics” to that being the main thing we want to intrude on

personal pov on an accelerant to this is that a large % of ppl are bored and lead boring lives inflammatory topics and engagements provide much needed excitement they lack in their lives

i think that + internet information silos make it easier for someone to believe some group is _actually bad_, and therefore you should not just let them be, instead actively try to shut them down
