There are a number of "tipping as currency" projects out there. Many of these are very innovative and have good intentions. Many are truly "degen" in nature. Yet I have always been unsure of whether using tips to "buy" a product/service/NFT/membership/token is in the same spirit as "tipping" contributions made by creators and builders. Hoping this cast can generate discussion -- preferably without naming names. Thoughts?

I think allowing tips for mints, services, etc is very fair game. The goal of degen tipping is rewarding value creation. Good art, good channels, good services are all providing substantive value imo, so it’s fine. I do accept tips for my /hypersub channel for full transparency.

the only problem i have with tip markets is the risk to the service provider artists (etc) accepting tips as return for art should understand that money comes with zero certainty if they're cool with the risk, i have no problem with it. they're contributing something to the network. good 'nuff for me; hope they get paid. promise nothing.
