Any thoughts on a freemium model? All users skip the payment step and their registration is subsidized. Later, a small number of users upgrade to premium (Apple Pay or otherwise). The premium revenue is enough to cover registration for all the free users, with extra left over.

This is what I do for my Translate for Slack app. Each month I pay Google for every character translated, even for those of the FREE plan. But the revenue from the minority on the PRO plan covers all the Google Translate API costs. Of course, all those free teams are daily users who may one day upgradeβ¦

How do you prevent abuse / fraud on the free tier (since they get something valuable)?
