The answer is that it depends on who referred you (who shared the mini app embed that you opened). When there isn't a referrer in any of the the 3 levels backward, the payment goes to "the backstop", a wallet of mine. A bit of compensation for creating the app and being the earliest. ;) Perhaps some of these proceeds will go towards rewards for The Leaderboard...
