Just hours after his inauguration, Donald Trump appointed Mark Uyeda, the current commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a known supporter of Bitcoin (BTC), as the acting chairman of the SEC.
The appointment will last until the Senate confirms Paul Atkins, the nominee for permanent SEC chairman.
Caroline Pham has also been appointed as the acting chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
