Sometimes I anthropomorphize random objects and feel bad when I throw them away. 

The lighter when it runs out of fluid. The pair of boots that served me well. The holey socks that I’ve worn for years. It feels like I’m betraying them after all they’ve done for me.

I have zero problems throwing out holy socks or dead lighters

Same for shoes/boots too really. Once they get shitty they turn into yard work footwear and once they have holes too bug for that then into the trash they go. Zero fucks given
