My dad who has worked for the same company as a lead engineer for the last 30+ years lost his job today, exactly 1 year before he could retire.

Shit like this just reaffirms in my mind that people shouldn’t give the best years of their lives to some soulless company that doesn’t care. 

I certainly won’t do it.

dude thats actually fked, i hope everything will turn out okay and he gets to hopefully enjoy an early retirement… thats so whack is he unionized?! cuz from where im looking at it it seems like the company trying to skim out of his benefits

Nah, no union or contract. His retirement is self funded so it’s just healthcare that would be the problem.

I’m more worried about his mental wellbeing. He kinda lived for his job, so he won’t know what to do without it.

well yeah he was obviously dedicated to his work and probably had the intention of finishing some projects before leaving… im so sorry to hear this bro! 

just be there for him, take him out for a round of golf or drinks, show him what hes been missing 🫶🌈🫂
