MICRO TRANSACTION META

1) We're seeing an increasing number of products take advantage of micro-transactions. See: Warpcast Tipping, @ampsfun, @warpslot, etc.

2) This shift is caused by several converging trends: low gas fees, social identity tied to wallets, and an influx of liquidity (e.g. Warpcast Rewards) that lets users play with "house money". 

3) As txn fees have dropped, new products are emerging that target markets that were previously unavailable due to high fees. See chart below.

4) Warpcast's social graph and product architecture means that users now receive notifications when they are paid, further increasing the virality of products that help users pay each other.

aren’t microtransactions just spam? projects have been dusting wallets forever to get attention. sending someone tokens on Farcaster doesn’t mean they’ll care—people sent me Warps, I ignored them. unless there's utility or context, microtransactions = noise.

He’s saying micro transactions as in $1-$2 for a very cheap repeatable service like amps.

You pay for a recast. Most people (me included) charge $1. But it does start to add up. I’ve made close to $200 in $1 transactions from people paying for recasts.

Yeah, it did feel kinda silly at first, but recasts are barely visible on my profile so I don’t see the harm. And if it helps a cast get more visibility algorithmically, it’s found some small PMF. 

It’s definitely not something that would pay the bills, but a few extra hundred bucks never hurts!

Interesting idea, though $1 barely feels like a microtransaction—Reddit Gold starts at $1.99. Nothing web2 hasn’t seen. Amps kind of feels like a click farm from what you described—getting paid instantly for quick actions. Personally, I’d rather get paid in bigger chunks later.
