There has been a lot of FUD recently about past failure and what that means for future success. With this in mind—what is the most important failure you’ve experienced in life and how did it shape the person you are today?

For me, it was losing everything to drug addiction and the criminal justice system. My career, my health, my youth. But through that struggle, I learned to be a much stronger person—much more capable to take on the challenges of life. I wouldn’t change anything as all of it helped shape the person I am today.

One of my biggest failures was a crazy car accident i was in where I almost lost my life, I was in my late teen years and I was driving recklessly on icy roads. I drive extremely safe and with caution now because I don't think I should have survived that incident.. there's some reason why I am still here, I'm determined to find my purpose every day and am thankful for that second chance.

Wow man, so a near death experience? I had a similar experience on an icy road. Not an accident but it could have been super bad. Got lucky that it wasn’t. 

How long ago was this?

Damn dude, that's nuts. Mine isn't as bad as that, but still scary. 

I was driving home from Oregon to Florida and stopped in Wyoming at a rest stop at around 1am to sleep for a bit. When I woke up at like 6-7am, it was like a blizzard. Snow was coming down like a motherfucker, and I go to get off the rest stop and it says 'Highway closed'. 

I'm fucking 3000 miles from home and have nowhere to go. Not staying at this fucking rest stop. Drive around the sign and get on the highway. 

Start cruising down an empty highway thinking, "wtf this ain't so bad."  Suddenly, I hit a patch of black ice, and my car did was 180. Now, I'm going the same speed down the highway, but backwards lol. Freaking out, I know not to overcorrect, so I just kinda slow down a bit and wouldn't you know it, hit another patch of black ice - did another 180 and ended up straightened out. It must have looked like some shit out of a fucking movie dude. 

Needless to say, I took the next exit and found a hotel to ride out the storm.

It was about 17 years ago, I was on my lunch break for school speeding on back roads trying to get to my friends house super fast for no reason honestly. There was a sharp turn like an S shape I was approaching too quickly and a semi trick was in the opposite lane so I moved outside of the turn to make room but I hit a patch of ice on the shoulder and it sent me spinning in circles down a hill off the side of the road towards a river. 

A stump was sticking up out of the ground and I slide sideways into it, it tore my tire off and i slammed into a patch of trees a couple feet away from the river, it stopped me from going in. I smashed my head on the window and woke up a few minutes later and my car horn was stuck blaring. It was an old car and I guess the airbags didn't work anymore. My car was totaled..

Damn, it gives me goosebumps telling the story 😬
