I’ve never struggled to have friendships across political / party lines. I hate many ideas but hating people is cringe, it’s also boring to surround yourself with an echo chamber 

This doesn’t mean every political stance is valid, just means discourse is good & we should take each other seriously. When we generalize about the bad guys on the other side we tend to say dumb things, and everyone always overlooks their own flaws or is generous with their team & overly critical of the others. Recognizing that is a continual process, more value than belief

I am the same. I have found over and over in my life that people have far more in common than not. But, unfortunately, a lot of people let the political shucksters rile them up.

I feel like the best chance we'd have to fix things is to just throw out every last one of them and start fresh. 

Term limits would be like an actual way to accomplish that though. There is no reason somebody should be in office for 30 years. It breeds corruption.
