What’s a business idea or side hustle you think could work but you’ll probably never pursue? What’s stopping you, and what would it take to make it happen? Here’s mine: a commercial cleaning business. The idea is simple—I’d find the clients and build the relationships, then outsource the actual cleaning to a small, reliable crew. A friend of mine from high school actually did this, and now he’s running a very successful small business. We talked through this idea in high school but he actually went and did it. It’s pretty wild to see how well it’s working for him. I think it goes to show that you can make just about anything work, if you put your mind to it. What’s your “almost” idea—the one you know could be good but, for whatever reason, isn’t in your plans? Why haven’t you pursued it?

I’ve always wanted to run my own fire sprinkler design company. I work 45 hr weeks at my main job & take on side projects. My old employer handles my taxes. I know I could handle it myself & probably make more money but I’m concerned about self employment taxes and insurance ramifications. ie preexisting conditions

Yeah insurance is always a bit consideration. If only we could get our country to catch up with the rest of the world and just do universal coverage. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The preexisting conditions is a huge issue. Unless you have a group plan it can be scary. My wife had surgery on her gi. Now any issue related will be out of pocket including screenings. You have anything and they find ways to not cover it. BCBS used to have a 2 person group plan. Don’t think that exist now.
