I want to try something new with the pinned cast in /success: encouraging more long form discussion. Read the question below and answer thoughtfully. Let’s spark some real conversations here! There has been a lot of FUD recently about past failure and what that means for future success. With this in mind—what is the most important failure you’ve experienced in life and how did it shape the person you are today? For me, it was losing everything to drug addiction and the criminal justice system. My career, my health, my youth. But through that struggle, I learned to be a much stronger person—much more capable to take on the challenges of life. I wouldn’t change anything as all of it helped shape the person I am today. What about you?

I graduated college in 2009 into a horrible job market, such a rough time. I feel that.

It’ll get better, market is cyclical. Just figure out what you want to do in your early 20’s, no need to actually do it yet.

He already figured it out. Hold a top position in the moxie DAO which will one day be a 100m+ project :)

Seriously, I swapped 60% of my Degen bag to moxie yesterday in anticipation, felt right. He’s way ahead of where I was using my free cash to party and get high. Luckily I held a job my whole life but it wasn’t a priority for me until half way through grad school.

Same. I have also always held a job. Had to pay for my habits somehow. But I never cared about saving for the future or really about tomorrow. I truly lived for today in an irresponsible way. Funny cause I still tell people to live for today but I mean it much differently now.

Yeah, I was a high functioning addict. I got really into some of the designer RC opiates and was excited about the science behind them. I made a fentanyl vaporizer in 2015 and rationalized that I was doing science. It’s weird cause I was on the right career path already but nearly died a few times being dumb.

Yeah man, the fentanyl vape was pretty insane. It was back when everyone in LA was vaping so wasn’t conspicuous at all. Glad it didn’t catch on. This was way before it was mainstream like it is now (2014-2016). I was deep into some dark web/subreddits getting RC’s that never got legalized (U-47700, etc) reading up on the compounds before ordering them. Such a crazy time…
