Todays /success topic of the day: What’s one outdated practice or belief that you think needs to be challenged or discarded? I think we need to change the practice of saying “the customer is always right.” This can lead to toxic client relationships and to unreasonable expectations. It’s ok to say NO. What do you think?

I've always believed that this saying is only applicable at the retail store front level. Customers or clients can be difficult, and some try to take advantage of that relationship. There are some people out there who simply consider being a pain in the ass, a part of doing business. For those people I have to ask myself 'is the juice worth the squeeze'? (I'm paraphrasing someone there; I don't remember who). If the answer to that is no, then I'll thank them for considering and choosing me, but I'm not going to be able to work with them. You know, in a perfect world. Sometimes though I just have to grin and bear it and wait for the weekend.

Haha I’ve met my fair share of people who are pains in the ass just because. It takes a special kind of tact to deal with them. I’m hopeful that one day I won’t have any “customers” to work for but instead just community members to work with. A boy can dream I guess.
