Huge huge shout out to the cLabs eng team, to the validators and node operators, and all the builders and partners in the ecosystem who put countless hours into making this upgrade a reality 💪 You guys nailed it! This was ecosystem-wide coordination at its best!

That said, the migration was harder than expected—a true "hard, hard fork" 🪨🪨🍴 The team came across a number of unexpected issues that did not appear in the dozens and dozens of dry runs preformed over the prior months, primarily due to the much larger than expected load. The issues were quickly resolved and the new chain was building blocks in no time.

The upgrade had the following highlights: 📜 It preserved the entire Celo chain history—their was no regenesis needed 🆙 Was entirely trustless—Full nodes were able to upgrade without snap syncing 🏡 Moved the location of the CELO token from the Celo chain to Ethereum

Celo L2 offers big improvements over the prior L1 version: 🔐 Inherits security from @ethereum and @eigenda ⚡ Offers 1-second block times & near-instant confirmations 🧹 OP Stack-based code uses 365k fewer lines of code when diffed against Geth making the codebase lighter, cleaner, and faster And perhaps most importantly, it's aligned with Ethereum and its roadmap.
