The word Folia comes from "follie" wich means madness in French. In Brazil, the term is used to refer to the festive crowd at Carnival time. The generative art project Folia alludes to the image of this mad and mixed crowd seen from above. Carnival is marked by diversity and playful uses of the streets. In several Brazilian regions, thousands of people of all ages and types occupy public spaces in a crazy mix of joy, music, fantasy, colors and celebration. The images created in Folia series also refer to the confetti and the profusion of lights, movement and colors of the party. From macro to micro, the images can even refer to the details of the carnival costumes with their shiny sequins. Folia has two sub-series: Night and Day.
