// Mama Africa Researching my own genealogy I was looking into our common ancestral roots, and felt like visually exploring the concept of 'Mitochondrial Eve' - the most recent common matrilineal ancestor of all living humans. She is traced through mitochondrial DNA which is passed from mothers to their children. Mitochondrial Eve is estimated to have lived around 100,000 to 200,000 years ago in Africa. It is important to note that she was not the only woman alive at her time, but rather the one whose mitochondrial lineage has survived through generations.
