I’m running into an issue that only happens on Base mainnet on MetaMask. The gas fee is not able to estimated, then it shows a very high amount. Has anyone else run into this? Other wallets and networks Aren’t showing this problem

What rpc provider are you currently using? Could you change it to https://mainnet.base.org and let us know if the issue is still happening?

I’m using Privy which uses default RPCs but I’ve confirmed with them that for Base it’s the one you provided

I'm not familiar with Privy so sorry if this is a silly question, but is this what the network details for Base look for you on your MM?

Privy is the auth provider I'm using to sign people into my app and trigger transactions. And yes that is what the details look like. And I've included the relevant part of my code.

thank you for the info! I believe I was able to reproduce the issue and we'll investigate what's happening.

Another follow up question: does the MM account that you're testing with has enough funds to afford the amount being sent + gas?

The expected amount, yes. But not the amount that is showing in the incorrect popup. It’s set to trigger a transaction of a few cents which I have enough to cover with gas

yes, I meant the expected amount for gas + 5000000000000 that is being sent. I thought had found 2 ways to reproduce this but it seems none of those 2 would apply to your case so it might be something else. If you don't mind could you share the dapp you're encountered this on so we try to reproduce it on our end?
