Re Apple’s PCC, a few things can simultaneously be true: a) it’s setting the new standard for secure cloud compute infra b) even if not perfect, it’s better than the alternative of shipping user data to third parties c) further blurring the lines between what data is local vs in the cloud is not great

agreed with all 3, but especially c) these platforms take on an animistic appearance as we consistently reuse them, leading to habitual "I want f(x) -> I must press the glowing button/say the magic words" ideally b) iterates into private MPC for FOSS analogues.
