One of the most visited castles in Romania is “Peleș Castle”,which is located in Sinaia. This castle was used by Carol I, the king of Romania, as a place for troops to retreat during the war. Although the construction of this structure took more than 40 years at that time, the result was magnificent and luxurious.

A bas-relief of King Carol I by Raffaello Romanelli overlooks the main entrance.  There are many other sculptures in the castle, mostly of Carrara marble, executed by the Italian sculptor Romanelli.
