What are the best tools for crypto taxes so the IRS doesn’t make a surprise visit?

Give Koinly a try if you want a rough estimate and smart UI. If you are prepared to do some heavy lifting and clean up your on-chain data, then cointracking.info is your best bet.

I used cointracker for years and it was fucking terrible, tho they did release a new thing this year. Now I use mostly koinly. Token Tax is great for their feature where you pay them and they handle it. But ultimately you Will have to know what is going on to evaluate any of these results.

Whatever you do, don’t enter your address to some random axcounting app as then they will have your address forever. Use a local first solution like: https://rotki.com

Tokentax or koinly, or better yet, pay a crypto-native accountant!

Token tax works well for me. However they didn't support smart wallets like Argent last year. Maybe that has changed.
