He is one of the contemporary African photographers whose works focus on political and social developments in Africa. After receiving a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 1983, he started photography professionally in 1986 and has worked as a photojournalist with the Afrapix photo agency in South Africa and Reuters news organizations and the French news agency.
