Blood pressure refers to the force exerted by circulating blood against the walls of blood vessels. It is measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) and is expressed in two values: systolic (the pressure during heartbeats) and diastolic (the pressure between heartbeats). Normal blood pressure is typically around 120/80 mmHg. High blood pressure, or hypertension, can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease and stroke if left untreated.
