actual stoics believe in determinism and do not distinguish between external and internal events.

this is cringe because according to stoic logic everything is fate and *it is what it is* which is a really bad thing to say as we can control lots of things in our lives, and our reactions to various events.

Stoicism focuses on changing only what you can control, which imo is a good coping mechanism.

We're not here to change your mind, only you can do that. Stoicism's not for everyone, that's for sure. 100%. Horses for courses...that said, It's only a bad coping mechanism if it makes whatever headspace/situation you're in worse...

A stoic would never try to change your mind.

It’s actually a *good* coping mechanism.

The whole point is to understand distinction between things you have to cope with vs things you don’t. 

At the very least under any circumstances I can control myself even if I can’t control my situation.
