like ok, streaming services are predatory and pay artists peanuts, but is a new streaming service thats on-chain really going to fix that?

id argue that paying for music makes little sense because it costs roughly 0 usd to copy a digital file

i have discovered tons of artists through slsk and for those that i really enjoy i support by purchasing physical releases and merch. i am fully aware im the exception to the rule but i feel this is more sustainable

The problem with streaming today is that it’s 1 size fits all solution and artists have no control over the price of their music

On sound

1) artists can set their own prices
2) get paid instantly
3) can help find new fans. Fans are actually visible when they support an artist vs anonymous on streaming

personally i support artists i enjoy by buying merch and physical media. i exclusively get my music either by dumping CDs or downloading it from soulseek.

i wouldnt get any enjoyment out of it by collecting NFTs, but it might just be a personal thing

Even when I do enjoy collecting songs on Sound and supporting artists that way, I actually agree with you. It helps some artists, it is a niche thing, but I don't think it has the potential to go mainstream. 

Of course I will still collect and try to support artists that way.
