the olympics boxing controversy only goes to show that grouping athletes by gender is dumb and we should look at more metrics like height, weight, muscle mass, etc... and not something non-binary like primary and secondary sex characteristics

That would split sports in too many categories. The current format has worked well for decades. Maybe they should just make a thrid category for intersex athletes

you still have the problem of some people having massive advantage due to good rng with their genetics, see Michael Phelps. splitting into amab/afab makes little sense because it doesnt account for edge cases.
