"The Fleeting Light"
O fleeting Light, that dost in haste retreat,
As golden waves at sunset kiss the shore,
Why dost thou fade, and leave my soul in heat,
Yet grant no warmth when thou art seen no more?
Like Timeās swift chariot, thou dost haste away,
Unmindful of the shadows left behind.
Yet in thy flight, one truth I dare convey:
Thou wert but lentānot givenāto mankind.
Then let me not in vain lament thy flight,
But learn to love the dusk as I the morn,
For Day and Night are but the turns of Night,
And every dusk foretells a brighter dawn. 2 replies
