To make querying app state faster and easier (don’t have to make s ton of eth calls) plus calculate and query derived state that isn’t stored in contracts

Makes sense. Doesn't ponder make a lot of eth calls if it does pooling every 15 seconds or something ?

Yeah a decent amount, but it’s still way cheaper since it only needs to index data once vs if you have one user per x time units requesting the exact same data via eth calls
