Haven't done one of these in a while, AMA! Farcaster, Warpcast, crypto, tech, etc. Since we've had a lot of new folks join recently, will also a share a few links below.

What's your take on making social media better for people's mental health & productivity? Would you promote clients that have more human-friendly features?

I think it's overstated / recency bias. If you look at the historical record, every new technology is going to make people lazy or crazy. I'm hopeful with a permissionless protocol we'll have a variety of clients that optimize for different things.

Hmm, IMO there's a vast difference between radio/TV/PCs and smartphones x social media mix because of the nature of distraction and its availability 24/7. Hope that different clients will give us more options to choose here :)

it's changing, but Americans still spend more time watching TV than social media https://i.imgur.com/qpYjoh5.png

Where does personal responsibility end and corporate/protocol responsibility begin?

Yeah I agree- ten years after most homes had a TV, was there a big spike in teen suicide? Were people using TV as a tool to organize political violence? At least the current generation of social media seems genuinely bad for us in pretty measurable ways, it's not just luddite hand wringing
