Its about a teenage boy who inherited spiritual power from his grandmother, enabling him to see youkai spirits. He also inherited "Book of Friends" which grants him power over youkai whose name is written inside the book

With his companion Nyanko-sensei, he searches for the youkais to return their name from the book.
It doesnt have flashy fighting scenes but all the backstory is very good and sometimes touches my heart. 
Definitely a good watch!
