Is it right that these people are basically indentured servants to the company that brought them here and they are getting paid generally 30% lower than their counterparts. If the company asks them to do certain things, they threaten to deport them back home. They can’t look for other companies to work for.

It really has a lot of similarities of illegal immigration.

I worked in the US on a H1B Visa in Alaska and it was an awesome experience. 
If the job sucks, can't those employees just quit and go home? Or is the issue that they are trying to use it is a backdoor into full time residency instead of the 3-6 years of the actual visa? 
Your example company sounds like a bunch of assholes to me, who are abusing their workers. Damn I hate the greed and abuse that proliferates in our societies.
