Unpopular opinion:

SMR startups, if successful, will be 1,000x more impactful to society than fusion startups

assuming they go into deep space to seize more of a delta-v budget.

SMR has its niche just like LPG. if it's going to be stationary & there isn't a dire need for a peaker plant, I'd much rather be solar-maxxing. SMR still can experience a cost disease (for years/decades) if any provider falters on quality control.

if there's a dire need for peaker plant, I'd much rather prefer the SMR to coal, oil, or gas.
