Dogs can clearly understand facial expressions and distinguish emotion. Can cats? I’m at a loss. Definitely voice tone, but facial expressions, IDK. Newish cat owner here.

Cats are more subtle in showing emotions compared to dogs, but they can pick up on facial expressions as well. Your cat may not react as obviously, but they are still attuned to your emotions. Enjoy your journey as a new cat owner!
