The storm clouds gathered on the horizon, dark and foreboding. The wind picked up, howling through the trees and sending leaves swirling into the air. The first raindrops began to fall, quickly turning into a torrential downpour. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the landscape in brief bursts of light.
