Wow, so many things happening in the past weeks that I missed this one out. 

On March 7th we held a surfing forecast workshop to the Eco Noronha guides and environmental management team

We helped them understand the wave forecast properly, and they will use this information to safeguard Fernando de Noronha’s natural trails. 

Assessing the surf forecast and providing information is important to maintain the tourists safe. Some trails are closed on high tides and also on big swells (when waves are big)

I invited Buday Santos to join me in the presentation. He is a native lifeguard, big wave surfer and an excellent forecast analyst for the Fernando de Noronha island. 

Many people / activities rely on his forecast analysis to male important decisions, such as doing or not the trails, marine activities (boat, diving) and event the local port uses his knowledge to decide whether to close the port or not. 

It was an amazing experience. This was the second workshop and it feels great to share knowledge and help the local community understand forecasting tools and create safer environments for tourists. 🤙🏾
