Conversation with my artists friends: Some times I think of myself as a photographer who work better with black and white. I have my idea of dark black and and clearly a bright white in my mind. That’s my favorite setting. But strangely I’m also very attracted by color photography, I consider myself a beginner with colors. For example in this photo I just thought that the kimono was very well paired with the train blue stripe. Then I go for it and like after 2 minutes I’m already thinking that I messed up. What’s your relationship with colors? How do you manage them? Btw I dropped this one on Rodeo https://rodeo.club/post/0x774AF410e8053c9f733620Fe71bfCDdF754F8609/111

Cool work, Luigi. Instantly, the ad in the center is the only thing I see, then I see the composition. Color is intuitive for me and I dont spend a lot of time thinking about it with photography. Sometimes, i will see a color and chase it dpown, but its rare. Mostly, I see the scene and later realize that the color is probably what attracted me to it. I tend to like quirky colors which Poland is ripe with. True story, I learned color through drawing from comic books as a kid then later in art school I learned how to actually apply color and make it work.

I think that people who used to go at school art have a natural eye for colors, at least they can recognize where they need to be or not. As you said, the ad on the train keep most of the attention, that’s why I thought that probably colors are useless.

Bah, hardly useless. In fact, the colors here are quite wonderful. The yellow at the bottom mixed with the soft pallet of color is quite wonderful. Color is intuitive to me but I owe just as much to art school as I do cooking as far as color goes. Years spent in kitchens certainly helped to keep my color in check if not allow it to be more naturally vibrant. Anyway, great piece and I quite enjoy your color work. Keep going!
