yes, there is speculation in both

prediction markets are a form of information coordination

casinos are a zero sum game house convinces you to play so they can take your money

Information coordination has real value

Cultural coordination is a short term game people play for fun

People who play polymarket do it bc they have an edge

But I agree, some people play pumpfun bc they have an edge and some play polymarket for fun

opposite sides of the horseshoe

prediction markets are still a financially zero sum game, even if they provide an externality in "information coordination"

but w that same logic one could claim that pumpfun/memecoin casinos provide an externality in "cultural coordination"

either way, both casinos/both zero sum/both have externalities
