Threads: Tariff Now - U.S. trade-weighted average tariff increased sharply from 2.4% to 22.8% (10 times increase in some areas such as aluminum, steel, and automobiles). Note: Tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum in 2018 caused U.S. construction material prices to increase by 20% and added $3B in annual costs to U.S. automakers (CRS Report, 2020).
