simple, portable, unix-y cli tools that flexibly execute tasks? i find something really aesthetic about tools like this and curious what others exist (other than built-in unix tools ofc)

oh these are all great improvements to the toolbox!

grep is certainly one in conjunction with tools/files 

cat <anything> | grep 

using grep to get what you actually wanna see without searching

or filtering log output of a command

run command | grep
