If you are considering optimizing your site to be recommended by ChatGPT, you first need to understand how people search on ChatGPT versus Google. Check out the graph below… ChatGPT is mainly used for informational searches. 88% more likely than Google. However, for money searches, like commercial search phrases, people are 3.21 times less likely to type them into ChatGPT. And it gets worse for transactional keywords, where people are 8 times less likely to use ChatGPT for transactional searches. This doesn’t mean ChatGPT isn’t worth optimizing for. It’s more likely to help with brand awareness rather than direct conversions.
