hourly billing often penalizes expertise. The faster and sharper you get, the less you earn.
80% of what i do at work has no feasible artifacts — i'm not a dev, and i'm on hourly billing, and it's always very tricky

just terminated a client after over a decade bc the new guy wanted hourly billing

how to bill for thinking time has always seemed an unattractive problem to solve as an indie

simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, so I would yes, absolutely worth it : )
