on one hand, what if that matches the ppl aspirations? those who want to get higher, will find a way; the rest will have a way to exist

but personally i'm more in favor of sth like a one-time payment (thailand will be doing this experiment, i wonder how it goes) — an incentive that might seem ridiculous, but could save the situation for many people without becoming a slave of it — if you make it out, you have higher chance of not repeating the past mistakes
