interesting model to raise funds. do all fees go to the beneficiary or is it split with the host?

if not split - am i reading it correctly that there would need to be 100,000+ bids until somebody pays $1000 for the dappnode, which is around the normal price?

Yes, you read the correctly. But I doubt the auction will go on that long. If we raise $5,000 in bid fees and sell the Dappnode for $50, then I will consider it a successful experiment.
