appreciation

Today I went to feed turtles with my children. I really appreciated watching their joy and excitement over something so simple. It was beautiful to watch my daughter's concern that the littlest turtles got food, and it was hilarious to watch my son (who is younger) squeal with delight when the turtles followed him around expecting more snacks. It was such a beautiful moment and I'm thankful for it.

My family had 3 terrapins when I was young. 1 went missing shortly after, leaving us with 2. We had them for 6 years until one died, which made me very sad. I told myself I would never keep pets again.
