Personal data of Russians ended up on the darknet: statement by the head of Rostelecom

Mikhail Oseevsky, the head of Rostelecom, made a loud statement: the personal data of every Russian citizen has already leaked online. He noted that he had found information about himself on the darknet. According to him, the data leak opens up wide opportunities for hackers who can use them to access people's personal lives.

"If you go to the darknet, there is information collected by the Ukrainian special services or hackers for each of us. I even checked on my own," Oseevsky said.

This problem is confirmed by statistics: in the summer of 2024, Russia took the first place in the number of offers for the sale of company databases on the darknet. The country accounted for 10% of such ads in the first six months of the year.
