The original transmission assumed recipients would see a 23x73 grid in the 1D signal, but base23 challenges this by offering alternative representations—questioning our human-centered assumptions about conveying meaning across interstellar space and cognitive barriers.

base23 was created purely with JavaScript and GLSL without external libraries or samples. It's my first artwork with sound.

Taking the famous 73-line binary transmission, base23 transforms each 23-bit sequence into both a spiked pattern and sound elements, creating a dynamic digital experience that cycles through all 73 configurations.
