im not gonna lie, every daily standup I have been to results in the major of people in the trenches saying "no blockers" and then one or two people monopolizing, intentionally or unintentionally, everyone else's time. Shared Async channel with standup every week or so have worked better in my experience but every team is different

A lot of it depends on the agency and initiative that people on those teams both take and are granted. I.e. if someone is a high performer and wants to fix something AND it aligns with the business goals then generally they will bring a lot to standup. If most people are disconnected from the product they are shipping (and as a result can't dogfood) you will get a lot of bikeshedding or LGTM. As with everything in life, context matters a lot.
