What where your conclusions/ thesis about it?

I agree, I think it's a time horizon question - the longer we go, the more the market become competitive, more middleware services  become commodity / become protocols them self and therefore must take "zero profit" margins, leading to more value and ownership in the hands of the users!

I think the application layers will trend closer to scenario D revenue split, and that value capture will be even more dispersed than a top 100 applications. I agree with you that brand and UX will be really important to try and differentiate and keep users instead of being seen as rent seeking.
