Following the July 28 elections in Venezuela, there has been a notable increase in arbitrary detentions and forced disappearances. Between July 29 and August 13, approximately 2,400 individuals were arrested. 
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that these detentions included protesters, human rights defenders, adolescents, people with disabilities, opposition members, and accredited electoral observers. Authorities have also blocked access to lawyers and violated procedural rights.
